OUR ROOTS

WoodMaxx Power Equipment Ltd. was founded in 2008 by a 14-year Army infantry veteran who set out to build a compact yet powerful PTO chipper after finding nothing on the market that met his needs. Driven by innovation and a commitment to quality, WoodMaxx developed its first machine, setting the stage for a brand built on hard work, craftsmanship, and integrity. Today, thousands of WoodMaxx machines are in use worldwide, a testament to the company’s dedication to designing equipment that stands the test of time.

In January 2025, WoodMaxx was acquired by longtime employees Tucker Smart and Adam MacBain, who founded The Back Forty Group with a vision to continue the brand’s legacy of quality and innovation. Deeply invested in WoodMaxx’s success, they built their careers understanding the needs of hardworking customers who rely on durable, high-performance equipment.
