Designed in Buffalo New York (we know snow) the WoodMaxx SB and SS series snow blowers are the perfect combination of size, weight, and power. WoodMaxx SB-series snow blowers are manufactured using heavy formed Q-235 (American standard ASTM A-36) structural steel plate. Forming allows for additional strength and rigidity. The pieces are CNC laser cut so that they fit together perfectly and are then precisely welded. This combined with the structural steel design allows for one rugged snow removal machine. To further protect these PTO snow blowers from corrosion due to sloppy, wet, harsh salt environments, we installed marine grade stainless steel hardware. Offering features found nowhere else; these machines are built like a tank and made to last a lifetime.
The WoodMaxx SB-72 PTO snow blower features a cutting width of 72”. It’s general practice when choosing a PTO snow blower, to choose one that has a cutting width that is at least as wide of the rear tires of your tractor, as the distance from outside to outside. Please refer to tractordata.com if you’re unsure of the track width of your tractor.
The cutting height on our SB-72 PTO snow blower is 27” high.
The WoodMaxx SB-series PTO snow blowers are equipped with a heavy gauge 3/16″ (4.8mm) AR400 – equivalent tempered alloy steel 17.5inch serrated auger. This prevents damage to the auger blades when backing into those frozen snow piles. At the base of our auger design, you’ll notice we’ve strategically built a heavy wall 2-7/8″ (70mm) tube as well. This large diameter tube around the main auger is what ensures the auger continues to run true without deforming. It also allows the blower to quickly chop and pull frozen snow into the blower fan. Additionally, we have equipped the auger with a quick-change shear bolt to protect the drive train, if the auger was to experience a jam.
The WoodMaxx SB-72 PTO snow blower utilizes a 24” diameter, 4-blade, open center cupped fan. It features a 3,393 ft./min blade tip speed and 6.75” fan depth for heavy snow removal. These cup shaped blades force the snow outward to evacuate the housing. The fan is constructed of 5/16″(8mm) steel, weighing 74 lbs. It is inevitable that chunks of ice may pass through the fan, so it’s important to use heavy steel in the construction to prevent damage. These fans are heavy duty and act as a flywheel to keep going through heavy snow. All WoodMaxx SB-series fan are dynamically balanced to ensure smooth running without vibration while prolonging bearing life. This design allows the snow blowers to be extremely productive when scooping and discharging heavy snow.
The heart of the WoodMaxx SB-series snow blowers is the right-angle oil bath gear box. Built for heavy use, the sealed cast iron gear box houses precisely machined bevel gears that are bathed in oil during use for long life.
Power is transmitted from the gear box to the auger through a shaft and heavy #60 chain and sprocket design, which incorporates an easy to adjust chain tensioning mechanism. This solid-state design ensures proper auger to fan speed ratio, increases torque and is easy to maintain.
WoodMaxx SB-series PTO snow blowers are equipped with a heavy gauge 1/8″ (3mm) thick 9″ diameter steel discharge chute with high-density polyethylene liner. The chute liner keeps the snow moving and prevents plugging. The large 9″ chute diameter allows the snow to clearly and freely exit the fan housing. The chute is specially designed to form to an arch, further boasting its ability to throw snow as far as possible.
The WoodMaxx SB-series PTO snow blowers come standard with a unique mechanical crank positive gear and pinion crank design. Unlike worm gear designs common on competing machines that slip and require many cranks of the handle to rotate 180 degrees, the WoodMaxx design requires only 3 cranks of the handle to rotate the chute 180 degrees. Supported by 4 roller bearings, the chute rotates easily without slipping. The crank can mount to the ROPS of a tractor to reduce the backward reach required to access the crank.
As an upgrade, we offer a 12-volt electric chute rotator and deflector option that comes complete with wiring harness and controls. If your tractor is equipped with hydraulic remotes, we also offer a hydraulic chute rotator/ deflector option for an additional charge.
Either the electric or hydraulic options can be purchased and added on at a later date.
The bolt-on replaceable hardened steel cutting edge allows for easy replacement when the time comes. Competing blowers use soft mild steel cutting edges that are welded in place.
The cutting edge is also capable of scraping snow clean down to the pavement but is also more forgiving on stone driveways than angled cutting edge designs.
Standard equipment includes bolt-on and replaceable 6” wide skid shoes. These robust skid shoes take little wear and are easily replaced when the time comes.
To illuminate the work area, we offer an optional high intensity (1140 lumen) LED work light. It features exterior grade Die-Cast Aluminum Housing, whose back also functions as a built-in ‘heat sink’ with 6 LED bulbs totaling 18 Watts, a polycarbonate lens, and stainless-steel mounting hardware. This high intensity LED work light is designed to illuminate in a 90-degree flood pattern and positioned on the snow blower in just the right spot for wide and bright operation area.
SB-series snow blowers will mount to any Category 1 or 2 three-point hitch attachment and is category 1 quick hitch ready.
NOTE: A 1-3/8″ 6 spline slip clutch pto shaft is included with every purchase.
The WoodMaxx SB-72 Snow Blower comes with a 2-year warranty. At WoodMaxx our service department is staffed with professional certified technicians that inspect each machine before it is shipped. This ensures that you get a trouble-free machine from the get-go. When you need technical help or parts, our courteous staff can help you get what you need from our fully stocked warehouse.

Well worth the investment.
I cannot attest to shipping, as I live nearby I picked the blower up in person. Everyone I spoke to from the office staff to the warehouse crew was extremely friendly, responsive and answered every question I had.
The order process was flawless. I purchased the snowblower before a big was to hit near us. Normally it would take a few days to prep, but WoodMaxx called and said it was ready to be picked up the same day.
I can say the blower itself is great, extremely well built & can really move lake effect snow.
The only thing I would improve is related the Rotator/ Deflector. I’d like a way to add mechanical stops to the chute to limit rotation. Without stops the chute could easily be over rotated risking damage to the hoses/wiring (depending on kit), throwing snow at the operator or cab glass. I really do like the fact it has near 360 degree rotation, but for those who would like to limit it, there should be an option.
The best unadvertised feature about this snowblower is that it comes with an informal guarantee that it won’t snow much after purchasing. Which IMO is worth the price in itself as we have had one of the lightest winters on record.
I purchased this and a WoodMaxx roto-tiller in 2017 and have used them heavily every year. I absolutely love this snow blower, it has been wonderful on my 58 HP John Deere 4720. We have heavy Idaho snowstorms most years, complete with wind and drifting. Last year we had an unbelievable amount of snow, our front yard had 12 feet of snow at one point, some of it blown in from our driveway. Many days I was clearing our 300+ foot driveway in the morning and night just to be able to get our cars in and out. Some days I was dealing with 3-4 foot drifts, it was hard work but it was able to keep up. It does work best with two feet or less but you can get through 4 foot drifts if you are willing to work it; take the top 2 feet off then the bottom 2. For several years I was clearing our driveway, my parents and 4 neighbors and with 12-18″ of snow I could do all of them in less than an hour including our 300 foot and three 100-200 feet driveways, only one was less than 100 feet (we live in the country). One day I cleared 27 driveways after a big storm. Last year the local high school had me clear their track in March. That was a workout as there was 4 feet of hard-packed snow but it handled it.
Be aware that it is not infallible, you have to treat it right or you will have problems. Most of the problems have happened because of debris in the neighbors driveways and bad judgement on my part. After a couple of small logs went through the chute, I had to have the piece of metal next to the fan straightened. Foolish me did not keep the gearbox filled with oil and I ended up replacing some of the gears in it (my fault). I have burned up two PTO drivelines and dozens of shear pins have had to be replaced. Stay away from fence lines where stuff may be hiding. Because of how much I have to clear, I tend to drive faster than is recommended, slow down and your PTO drivelines will be fine. After clearing neighbors gravel driveways, the polyethylene liner is mostly broken but that hasn’t caused any issues. It helps if your handy or have a good neighbor like I do that has been able to make the necessary repairs. If there is wind, having an enclosed cab is a huge plus. Also the Hydraulic Chute Rotator has been another huge plus, I would not want the manual chute rotator as I am constantly adjusting the chute.
If you treat it right it will treat you right. I highly recommend this snow blower, I have been thrilled with it.
Had this 3 seasons although I haven’t put many hours on it since nature hasn’t cooperated. Well made and it can throw some serious snow. Paired to a TYM T394 with 29 PTO HP with hydraulic chute option (worth it). The design features I liked over other brands are the giant auger and high 2nd stage tip speed. All that for a good price. I’ve chewed through 4 ft deep drifts without issue. But there is one issue and I’m writing so others can learn from my experience.
If you study other 3pt snowblowers you’ll see a variety of feet designs. Some have feet near the business end of the snow blower, others closer to the tractor. Woodmaxx has them near the tractor. Pro: This allows the edge to drop down right to the pavement and remove maximum snow. That’s great if you’re on pavement. Con: If you’re on gravel, dirt or grass – it WILL dig in. (At least with my setup I can’t shorten the top link enough to prevent it, or I need to leave inches of snow) So, I installed three 4″ wide bolt-on edge tamers from R2 manufacturing. Learned about them from Tractor Time With Tim. (I don’t think there’s enough lip for the clamp-on variety to work.) These pads allows it to float on the ground and not dig in. Installation: the cutting edge is HARD and you will need a 1/2″ carbide bit to get through it. Cobalt bits won’t even scratch it. I had removed the edge to drill it and the holes didn’t line up that well during reassembly. If possible drill thru without removing it – although it’s tight with the auger in the way. Buy a short bit and a 90 deg drill should help.
Ordered SB 72 blower with hydraulic chute control. Received snowblower and Hydraulic controls in time frame that was estimated.
Snowblower was packed well and had a steel frame around. It did have some damage done because of freight company . Woodmaxx did send me the parts to fix trouble. When getting snowblower from freight company be sure and check everything and if something looks amiss make sure to enter note on freight paper.
Snow blower seems to be very well constructed and pretty easy to put together.
Had 3 snow storms that hit one after the other and high winds that created 2 to 4 foot drifts. Snowblower worked great and went through the snow with no problems. Hydraulic chute controls were definitely worth the money.
So far very happy with the purchase
I received my sb72 snowblower in the summer. It came in a timely manner and in good shape like new. well built. so now January of 24 got to use it. Tossed snow a good ways worked as it should. I’m sure they will sell a few more of these to my neighbors.
